Transitioning to Organic Farming for Better Earnings

Supporting small-scale farmers with sustainable practices, market access, and agricultural innovation.

Project Overview

At Samarpit Foundation, we are on a mission to educate farmers about organic farming and help them transition to sustainable agricultural practices. Our goal is to improve their earnings, enhance soil health, and reduce dependency on harmful chemicals while promoting a healthier future for both farmers and consumers.

Through training programs, financial assistance, market linkages, and innovative farming techniques, we are ensuring that Indian farmers not only embrace organic farming but also profit from it.

Why Organic Farming?

  • ✅ Higher Profits for Farmers Organic produce fetches premium prices in domestic and international markets.
  • ✅ Improved Soil Health Avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides restores soil fertility.
  • ✅ Better Human & Animal Health Reducing chemical exposure prevents diseases and promotes a healthier ecosystem.
  • ✅ Environmental Sustainability Organic farming conserves water, reduces carbon footprint, and prevents soil degradation.
  • ✅ Better Human & Animal Health Various schemes provide subsidies, training, and certification assistance for organic farming.

Large-Scale Training & Awareness Programs

We conduct workshops and field demonstrations to educate farmers on:

  • Organic Manure & Composting: Encouraging the use of natural fertilizers like vermicompost, cow dung, and biofertilizers.
  • Crop Rotation & Natural Pest Control: Promoting diverse cropping techniques to maintain soil fertility and control pests naturally.
  • Water Conservation Techniques: Teaching methods like drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting to optimize water use.
  • Organic Certification Process: Guiding farmers on obtaining organic certification to access premium markets.

We plan to train farmers all across Gujarat.

Providing Financial & Technical Support

Transitioning to organic farming requires initial investment and knowledge. We assist farmers by:

  • Connecting them with government subsidies: Under schemes like Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY).
  • Providing organic seeds, bio-fertilizers, and compost units to ease the transition.
  • Training in farm budgeting and cost-saving techniques to maximize profits.

Through these initiatives, farmers will be able to save on farming costs.

Market Linkages & Direct Selling Opportunities

One of the biggest challenges for farmers is finding profitable markets for their organic produce. We help by:

  • Setting up organic farmer markets: Where they can sell directly to consumers.
  • Connecting farmers to large buyers, retailers, and exporters for better pricing.
  • Introducing digital platforms to help farmers sell online without middlemen.

By eliminating middlemen, farmers earn 40-60% more for their produce.

Community-Driven Organic Farming Clusters

We encourage group farming models, where small farmers collectively adopt organic methods. This helps them:

  • Reduce individual costs by sharing resources.
  • Expand land under organic farming, making large-scale organic production feasible.
  • Increase bargaining power in markets and government schemes.

So far, we plan to establish 50+ organic farming clusters, benefiting thousands of farmers.

Technology Integration & Data-Driven Farming

We introduce farmers to modern technology to boost productivity and efficiency:

  • Soil Testing & AI-Based Analysis: Helping farmers choose the right crops based on soil conditions.
  • Mobile Advisory Apps: Providing real-time updates on organic farming techniques, weather patterns, and market rates.
  • Natural Farming Innovations: Researching new bio-fertilizers and pest control methods to enhance yields organically.

Farmers using these techniques will be able to have 20-30% higher yields compared to traditional organic farming.

Future Goals & Expansion Plans

  • ✅ Convert 1 million acres of farmland to organic by 2030.
  • ✅ Establish 200+ organic training centers across India.
  • ✅ Launch a national-level organic farmers’ cooperative to ensure better market access.
  • ✅ Promote organic exports by facilitating global certifications and direct trade.
